Los Padres National Forest - Brazil Ranch Guided Hikes

Each hike begins with a presentation at the parking lot above the barn. The pace of each hike will be adjusted for the comfort of all members of the party. The Ocean View Hike is a moderately difficult casual hike. It is two miles long primarily on a paved surface with one steep grade. This hike includes views of the Bixby Bridge and Sierra Creek. The Sierra Ridge Hike is a very strenuous four mile hike up Sierra Hill and back, it offers spectacular views of the coastline and Hurricane Point. Hikes are offered every Saturday, with a long hike on the last Saturday of the month. Hikes are by reservation only! Reservations must be made before noon on the day before the hike. At a Glance

Operational Hours:	The guided hikes are provided in partnership with the Big Sur Environmental Institute. Please meet at the gate to the ranch just off Coast Highway 1. Plan to arrive between 9:30 and 9:45 the morning of your hike. Visitor vehicles are escorted to the parking area. The gate will be closed and locked at 10:00am.
Restrictions:	* The number of hikers is limited to 20. * Hikers must stay with the group. * Pets are not allowed. * Strollers are not allowed. * Smoking is not allowed. * The longer hike is very strenuous and is not recommended for small children or adults with health restrictions.

General Information

Directions: The Brazil Ranch is located approximately 20 miles south of Monterey on Highway 1. Most of the bridges along the Highway 1 have a name because of their historical significance. Knowing this will help you locate the entrance to the Brazil Ranch. The Brazil Ranch is on the left- approximately one tenth of a mile beyond the south end of the Bixby Bridge. When you are looking on a map, it is just past the Old Coast Highway junction with Highway 1.
