East Davis Creek Trailhead

This trailhead provides access to Davis Creek Trail #244. There is a flat area for dispersed camping near trailhead. The trailhead is a beautiful spot with ponderosa pine.  Visitors to the area will see wildflowers in the spring and early summer, wildlife throughout the year.

Current Conditions: 12/08/2021: The trail is open. Visitors should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions. Some roads become impassible due to snow, ice or mud during the winter months. Please remember that if you pack it in, please pack it out with you.

General Information

Directions:

From Prairie City, OR., travel east on US Highway 26 for approximately 13 miles to the junction with Forest Service Road 2614.  Turn left onto Forest Service Road 2614. Follow Forest Service Road approximately 1 mile to the juncation with Forest Service Road 2614-229 and follow Forest Service Road 2614-229 to the trailhead.

Activities

Mountain Biking

This trailhead allows access to the Davis Creek Trail #244.  Bicycle riders can travel this 9.1 mile trail through timber with a few scenic vistas.  Riders should be aware that the trail is very rough and rocky, it is recommended for more experienced riders.

This trail is used by hikers, OHV and bicycle riders; please be prepared to share the trail.

Day Hiking

This trailhead allows access to the Davis Creek Trail #244.  This 9.1 mile trail is very rugged and rough.  This trail is used by OHV, bicycle, and horse back riders, please be prepared to share the trail.

Horse Riding

Stock water located in nearby Placer Gulch. Please use certified weed free hay and take what you do not use home. Please tie horses to a picket line or your trailer rather than trees.

OHV Trail Riding

This trailhead allows OHV riders access to the Davis Creek Trail #244.  Riders should be aware that the trail is very rough and rocky.  The trail should be ridden by more experienced riders. 

This trail is used by hikers, bicycle and horse back riders; please be prepared to share the trail.
