The Parish Cabin Campground sets along Bear Creek affording fishing opportunities.  The campground is within minutes of Logan Valley an exceptional place for viewing wildflowers during spring and early summer.  Hikers are within a short drive to trail heads leading into the beautiful Strawberry Mountain Wilderness.  This campground is very popular with hunters.  A wildfire burned through the area in 2012 and again in 2015; visitors have the unique ability to view the effects and benefits of wildfire in the surrounding countryside.

Current Conditions: 10/12/2021: The campground and the water is off for the season. Please be aware that bathrooms will not be cleaned every day. Pack it in/Pack it out- anything you bring with you into the forest, please take home with you. This includes packing out all trash; yours and others. Examples: cigarette butts, cans, bottles, and food. Please follow local and state health guidelines.
Fees $8/Night for single unit, $4/Night for extra vehicle

Restrictions: Do not pasture horses in Bear Creek or adjacent meadow.  Camping is not allowed outside the campground perimeter.  Horses are not allowed in campground perimeter.

Passes: Passes and Permits are not required at campgrounds, trails or trailheads on the Malheur National Forest for recreational use.

General Information

Directions:

From the town of John Day, OR., travel south on US Highway 395 for approximately 12 miles to the junction with County Road 65.  Travel on County Road 65 for approximately 8 miles the road then changes to Forest Road 15.  Travel on Forest Road 15 approximately 4 miles to the junction with Forest Road 16, turn west onto Forest Road 16 and travel for approximately 1 mile, the campground will be on the right. 


General Notes:

Drinking water is available only during warmer months; water will be shut off from early to mid-October until mid to late May or early June depending on temperatures.
