Table Mountain Trail #217
This trail gives good access to the upper end of the East Fork Canyon Creek Trail #211 and allows relatively good access to the Wall Creek drainage in the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness.
There is plenty of parking space at the trailhead, with tie stalls for horses available. Stock water is located northeast of the trailhead, approximately 1/4 mile on Forest Service road 651.

General Information
Directions:From John Day, OR., travel south on US Highway 395 to County Road 65. Follow County Road 65 for approximately 6 miles to the junction with Forest Road 651. Turn left onto Forest Road 651 and proceed approximately 3 miles to trailhead.

Day Hiking
Recreation areas with activity Day Hiking:Table Mountain Trail makes an excellent day hike. Visitors can travel the 6.2 mile trail through ponderosa pines. Those looking for a little bit longer hike can take the Table Mountain Trail A #5000 trail 1 mile to the junction with the Pine Creek Trail #201. Traveling east on the Pine Creek Trail #201 for approximately 0.75 mile to the junction with East Fork Canyon Creek Trail #211. Follow the East Fork Canyon Creek Trail #211 approximately 0.5 miles to the junction with the Table Mountain Trail #217 and then back to the Table Mountain Trailhead.
Many options for longer hikes along multiple trails allow hikers to extensively explore the beautiful Strawberry Mountain Wilderness.
This is a shared use trail with horse back riders, please be prepared to share the trail.
Backpacking
Recreation areas with activity Backpacking:Table Mountain Trail #217 is an excellent starting point for those wanting to spend multiple days in the wilderness. The options to connect to other trails allow visitors to spend days exploring. For those wanting to explore the western end of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness can connect with the Pine Creek Trail #201 which connects with the Canyon Mountain Trail #218 allowing access to further trails and connectors for a longer loop hike. The Canyon Mountain Trail #218 connects to both Joaquin Miller Trail #219 and East Fork Canyon Mountain Trail #211.
For those wanting to explore more of the east end of the wilderness can start on the Table Mountain Trail #217 following it to the junction with the Pine Creek Trail #201 and then heading east connecting with other Buckhorn Meadows Trail #205 or continuing on the Pine Creek Trail it's end at Roads End Trailhead. Hikers can then follow the the Roads End Trail #201A to the Onion Creek Trail #368 or travel off the trail for a short distance to the High Lake Trailhead and the start of the Skyline Trail #385 allowing for even more opportunities to explore the wilderness.
