Craft Cabin Trail #319

Area Status: Open
This area is Open

Stroll through douglas fir, ponderosa pine, larch and alder lining the creek bottom as this trail follows Pine Creek for a distance of 6 miles through steep canyon terrain.  Bluffs of welded tuft rise from the creek along this primitive trail.  Wildlife viewing opportunities are abundant with bald eagles, golden eagles, pileated woodpeckers, and belted king fishers frequenting the area.  There is also good fishing along the trail, but watch for rattlesnakes.  The trail's remaining 3 miles climbs from the creek over Thompson Mountain.

This is not a loop trail.  The trail receives light use and has not been maintained.  Road conditions are variable and low clearance vehicles are not recommended.  The roads leading to the trailhead are not signed so a GPS or Forest Service Map is also recommended.  Craft Cabin Trail is open to mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking.  OHV use is prohibited.
