Emigrant Campground

Often overlooked, Emigrant Creek is a rarely used campground shaded by huge ponderosa pines.  This quiet 7 site campground's location along Emigrant Creek offers convenient trout fishing opportunities.  In addition, the campground is a short drive from the top of Snow Mountain and the Snow Mountain Fire Lookout.  The area around the fire lookout offers panoramic views of the surrounding region. The campground is an excellent place for visitors to enjoy a quiet get away.

Current Conditions: 05/18/2023: Open;Visitors should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions. Pack it in/Pack it out. Anything take home anything you bring with you into the forest, including all trash. Examples of trash: cigarette butts, cans, bottles, and food.

Restrictions: This campground can accomodate camp trailers 20 ft and under in length.

General Information

Directions:

From the town of Burns, OR., travel west on US Highway 20 to the junction with County Road 127.  Follow County Road 127 approximately 23 miles to the junction with Forest Road 43.  Follow Forest Road 43 approximately 9.9 miles to the junction with Forest Road 4340.  Follow Forest Road 4340 approximately 0.3 miles to the campground.

This campground is rarely used allowing visitors a quiet get away set amongst Ponderosa Pine trees.  Enjoy a relaxing day listening to the variety of birds and the beautiful sound of Emigrant Creek.

River and Stream Fishing

Anglers will enjoy fishing in Emigrant Creek that flows along the campground.  For regulation and license information please visit Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Viewing Wildlife

Visitors to the area have the opportunity to view a variety of animals ranging from big game such as prong horn antelope and mule deer.  A wide variety of birds including eagles, owls and smaller birds live throughout the area.
