Big Creek/Snowshoe Trailhead
This trailhead provides access to Big Creek Trail #377 which enters Strawberry Mountain Wilderness and many other trails. Offering opportunities for both day hiking and backpacking trips.
Horse facilities provide a convenient jumping off point for access to the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness. The trailhead and trail see the highest usage during big game hunting seasons.

General Information
Directions:From Prairie City, OR., turn south onto South Main Street. Follow South Main Street to the junction with Bridge Street. Turn left onto Bridge Street, follow Bridge Street out of town this road then becomes County Road 62, follow County Road 62 to the junction with Forest Road 16 at Summit Prairie. Turn west onto Forest Road 16, follow Forest Road 16 approximately 7 miles to the junction with Forest Service road 924 Follow Forest Road 924 approximately 2.5 miles to the junction with Forest Road 1648. Follow Forest Road 1648 for approximately 0.5 miles to the junction with Forest Road 021. Follow Forest Road 021 approximately 2.5 miles to the trailhead.

There is parking for horse trailers at the trailhead.
Activities
Day Hiking
This trailhead is an excellent starting point for visitors wishing to hike into the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness. From the trailhead hikers have a choice of two different trails to travel, Big Creek Trail #377 is a 5.3 mile trail that is steep. Following the Big Creek Trail #377 hikers can connect to other trails for longer hikes or enjoy the 10.6 mile round trip of the trail. The second option is to take Snowshoe Trail #380 and head east. The trail is approximately 3 miles long and will connect to Skyline Trail #385 allowing for longer hike.
Horse Camping
There is are two horse corrals and fire rings available at the trailhead.
Please use certified weed free hay, remove any unused hay when leaving the area.
If you pack it in please pack it out, there is no garbage service in the area.
