This trail leads through alpine meadows and wild onion fields in the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness.  After the first 3 miles, water is available off and on. The trail is very steep at the lower end.

The trail has not been logged out or maintained for a few seasons and becomes hard to find.

Current Conditions: 06/22/2021: The trail is reachable, however visitors may encounter snow or downed trees along the trail. Please if you Pack it in/Pack it out- anything you bring with you into the forest, please take home with you. This includes packing out all trash yours and others. Examples: cigarette butts, cans, bottles, and food. Please follow local and state health guidelines.
Usage: Light
Restrictions: Wilderness Regulations apply. Motorized and mountain bike use prohibited.

General Information


From Prairie City, OR., take US Highway 26 west approximately 4 miles to the junction with County Road 55. Follow County Road 55 about 3 miles to the junction with County Road 71.  Follow County Road 71 for approxmiately 2 miles to the junction with Forest Road 7101.  Follow Forest Road 7101 for approximately 3 miles. The trail begins on the right hand side of the road, just past the Forest Service boundary at the left hand curve.
