This rustic camp offers a few sites and is also a trailhead which accesses the Princess trail #251 (area is unavailable), Blackeye Trail #243 (area is unavailable).  Allowing for multiple opportunities for hiking.

Current Conditions: 05/24/2021: The campground is open, however the roads leading to the area may be impassible due to snow, mud and ice. Please be aware that bathrooms will not be cleaned every day. Pack it in/Pack it out- anything you bring with you into the forest, please take home with you. This includes packing out all trash, yours and others. Examples: cigarette butts, cans, bottles, and food. Please follow local and state health guidelines.

General Information

Directions:

From Prairie City, OR.,  drive east on US Highway 26 for approximately 13 miles to the junction with US Highway 7.  Take US Highway 7 for one mile to the junction with County Road 20. Follow County Road 20 for approximately 14 miles to the junction with Forest Service Road 45.  Follow Forest Service Road 45 approximately 8 miles to Forest Service Road 4500-537. Follow Forest Service Road 4500-537 toward Indian Rock Lookout. This road will disect Head O'Boulder Forest Camp.

Campground Camping

This rustic camp sits within the Vinegar Hill-Indian Rock Scenic Area, with trails leading out from the campsite.  This campsite is small and secluded, with fewer visitors throughout the summer allowing visitors a chance to explore the Vinegar Hill-Indian Rock Scenic Area.  The campground is busiest in late summer through early winter during big game hunting seasons.
