The Bachelor Basin trail is 6.6 miles long. It begins at Forest Road (FR) 0065/Miners Basin Road and ends at FR 0207/Gateway Road.  The last 1.1 miles of the trail on the northern end are on private land, so trail users should plan to stay on the trail through this property.  The trail shares a trailhead (TH) with the Miners Basin Trail; both trails begin near the Masons Draw Campground (CG).  The trail is open for the following uses: Hiking, Mountain Biking, Horseback Riding

General Information


From the intersection of Main Street and Center Street/US Hwy 191 in Moab, Utah, head south on US 191 for about 7.8 miles.  At Old Airport Road, head east for 0.6 miles and then turn south on La Sal Mountain Loop Road (also known as Spanish Valley Drive).  Continue on La Sal Mountain Loop Road.  After about 5 miles, the road becomes La Sal Loop/Forest Road (FR) 00046 and you enter the Manti-La Sal National Forest.  Continue on this road for about 15 more miles.  Just past FR 4364 and before FR 0065, you will pass the Porcupine Rim Camping Area to the north and the Mason Draw Campground (CG) to the south.  When you get to FR 0065/Miners Basin Road, head east for about three miles.  There is a small pond to the south and a dirt parking area for the shared trailhead for the Bachelor Basin/Miners Basin trails.
