The Douglas Ranger District of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests & Thunder Basin National Grassland includes both the Thunder Basin National Grassland and the Laramie Peak Mountains, two very different ecosystems.

 

The Ranger District office is in the town of Douglas, Wyo. which is located about midway between the two areas.

Operational Hours: Office hours are Monday - Friday / 8am to 4:30pm / closed for lunch from 12pm to 1pm.
Permit Info:
  • Fuelwood = $10 per cord / $20 minimum purchase / 10 cord max per year
  • Transplants = $10 per tree / $20 minimum purchase / 5 plant max per year
  • Christmas Trees = $10 per tree / 5 tree max per year
  • Post and Pole is NOT available.
Passes: America the Beautiful passes are available for purchase at the Douglas office during normal business hours.
  • Annual = $80 (good for 12 months)
  • Senior = $10 (age 62 or older - lifetime)
  • Access = FREE (provide documentation - lifetime)
  • Military = FREE (good for 12 months)
