Steamboat Lake Parking Lot & Visitor Center

Steamboat Lake State Park and parking lot are managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (not Forest Service) and is open year round for winter and summer fun. 

​​Enjoy the picturesque mountain scenery surrounding Steamboat Lake while relaxing in the rocking chairs at the Visitor Center. Browse the display area and learn about nature and area history. 

  • Summer offers plenty of opportunity for boating, fishing, camping, picknicking, and hiking
     
  • Winter comes alive with snowmobiling, ice fishing, and peaceful cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing in a valley surrounded by snow-capped mountains. 

Access to Steamboat Lake State Park groomed snowmobile trails around the lake as well as non-motorized use areas. Click here for more information regarding the state park. $7 day use fee is required for entry.

Directions from Steamboat Springs: Go west on US Hwy 40 to County Road 129. Travel 28 miles north of Steamboat Springs, turn left into visitor center.

  • The parking lot is open year round for winter and summer fun.
     
  • Summer recreation includes hiking, boating, fishing, picnicking and camping.
     
  • Winter comes alive with snowmobiling, ice fishing, and peaceful cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing in a valley surrounded by snow-capped mountains. 
     
  • All vehicles are required to display a current Colorado State Parks Pass on their windshield.  
     
  • Both, daily and annual passes can be purchased at the visitor center and the self-service dispensers.
