Big Creek Lakes Day Use Area

This Day Use Area will close on October 21st, 2024.

Picnic tables, fishing access and general recreation opportunities in this beautiful lakeside setting near portal to Mount Zirkel Wilderness. This area has been affected by the mountain pine beetle epidemic and has been logged in recent years and is popular for camping, boating and fishing.

General Information

Directions: Directions from Walden: Head north on Highway 125 for 9 miles to Cowdrey. Turn left at Cowdrey onto County Road 6W for 18 miles to Pearl. Take Forest Road 600 for 6 miles to the Big Creek Lakes Recreation Area. Picnic tables and access to the lake are available at the east shore day use area (turn left at "T") or at the north shore day use area (turn right at "T", but then bear left at first fork).
