Historic remnants of cabins and other structures from "tie hack" logging era during which millions of railroad ties, telegraph poles and mine props were removed from areas of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests (1860's to turn of the century).

General Information

Directions: Directions from Walden: Head north on Highway 125 for 9 miles to Cowdrey. Turn left at Cowdrey onto County Road 6W for 19 miles past Pearl. Turn left on County Road 6B. This road will soon turn into Forest Road 80. Follow Forest Road 80 for approximately 12 miles to the Encampment Tie Hack Trailhead. Then follow the trail approximately 1/2 mile south to the streamside interpretive site.
