West Lost Lakes #1103

Trail #1103. This trail is in the Flat Tops Wilderness and managed by the Yampa Ranger District. Please know regulations and practice “Leave No Trace.”

This trail is accessed off trail #1116 (see directions below). It starts just south of the Retaining Pond and  heads southwest following the drainage of West Lost Lake. At mile 0.3, a short access trail to Deep Lake (0.2 mi), leaves the main route.

Continuing towards the divide, the main trail enters a small meadow. This area, during the spring and early summer, can be extremely wet. Care must be taken when crossing.

At mile 0.8 you will pass along the south shore of West Lost Lake and begin your final ascent. By a series of switchbacks, 400 feet of elevation is gained in ½ mile.

By turning north on trail #1803, you may proceed to Ripple Creek Pass.

By turning south on trail #1803, you can reach the Lost Lakes Peaks, and eventually connect with Trail #1120 to return to Stillwater Reservoir.
