Libby Lake Picnic Site

Area Status: Closed

Located off the Snowy Range Scenic Byway, in the Sugarloaf recreation area. Picnic tables and fire pits available. One vault toilet and trash services available in the summer. This is a great spot to stop and stretch your legs at the base of Medicine Bow Peak, Sugarloaf Mountain, Gap Lakes Trail, and Browns Peak. Spectacular scenery is all around you.  It is managed by the Laramie Ranger District.

Lake and Pond Fishing

Libby Lake is 26 acres in size with a maximum depth of 50 feet and at an elevation of 10,750 feet. Libby Lake contains brook trout and Splake (a cross between a male brook trout and female lake trout).

Internal-combustion motors are prohibited on most Forest lakes. Use of live-bait fish is prohibited in lakes and streams within the Forest. For more information on boating and fishing regulations, contact the WGFD located in Cheyenne or Laramie.
