The Hog Park Campground is located in Encampment, Wyoming on the southeast shore of Hog Park Reservoir. This is a sunny area with an open view of the reservoir and night sky.

AMENITIES: Picnic tables, vault toilets, potable water, and fire grates.

NUMBER OF SITES: 50 for tents and trailers

FIRE BANS/RESTRICTIONS:
Please check with the Brush Creek Hayden Ranger station prior to your arrival to find out if campfires are allowed as fire restrictions and fire bans can go into effect at any given time 307-326-5258

DAY USE AREA: Across the Reservoir is a day-use picnic area with tables and a vault toilet.

ACTIVITIES:

  • HIKING AND BACKPACKING: Opportunities nearby include:
    • Huston Park
    • Encampment River
    • Mount Zirkel Wilderness areas.

  • FISHING AND BOATING: A boat dock, ramp and parking area located near the campground.
    • FISH SPECIES: Hog Park Reservoir is stocked by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD). Hog Park Creek and the Encampment River, located below the reservoir support populations of  brook, brown and rainbow trout.

WATERCRAFT: All watercraft (except for inflatables 10' or less in length) must have a valid Wyoming Aquatic Invasive Species decal.

  • For additional information on boating and fishing regulations, contact the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) in Cheyenne or Laramie.

Current Conditions: Gate CLOSED mid-September with no services; open mid-June thru Labor Day. $10/night per site.
Operational Hours: SEASON: Weather and snow can create a short season if there are late Spring snows and/or early Fall snows.

General Information

Directions:

From Encampment, take WY Highway 70 west five miles to Forest Road 550 and the Hog Park Reservoir sign. Turn onto Forest Road 550 and drive approximately 16 miles to FR 496. Continue on Forest Road 496 for 1.5 mile to the campground sign. Turn right, cross the dam, and into the campground.  Once you leave WY Highway 70 you will be on a gravel road that may have wash-boards in the curves.
