Hannegan Peak Trail #674.1


This trail is within Mt. Baker Wilderness. Reach the Hannegan Peak Trail by hiking four miles up the Ruth Creek Valley on Hannegan Pass Trail #674 to forested Hannegan Pass, 2,000 feet higher than the trailhead. Hannegan Peak Trail leaves the pass in a westerly direction, then turns north and gains 1,200 feet in a mile to the summit of Hannegan Peak, elevation 6,186 feet. Views are tremendous, and include Ruth, Silesia and Chilliwack Valleys and the icy summits of Mt. Shuksan, Mt. Baker, the Picket Range and Canadian Border Peaks.

Passes: A Recreation Pass is required at Hannegan Trailhead.

General Information


From Glacier, travel east on The Mt. Baker Highway SR 542 for 12.5 miles past the Glacier Public Service Center. Turn left on Hannegan Pass Road #32. Follow Road #32 for 5.3 miles to the Hannegan Trailhead parking at the end of the road.

General Notes:

Black bears frequent the area. Food and scented items need to be stored in a secure manner.

The trailhead and parking area are located at the end of the road. Parking for 30+ vehicles with room for stock trailers.
