General Information


Drive US Highway 2 to milepost 64.4, just west of Stevens Pass, and turn north on the Old Stevens Pass Highway. If you traveling eastbound, because of limited sight distance you should proceed east to Stevens Pass, turn around at the crest of the hill where visibility is optimal, and return to Milepost 64.4. Continue on Old Stevens Pass Highway for 2.8 mi. until you reach the junction with FS Road #050 and turn right. This will take you to the parking lot and trailhead.

Recreation areas with activity Interpretive Areas: Visit the old townsite of Wellington, where the nation's highest avalanche fatality took place in 1910. A quick and easy 0.3 mile walk, with interpretive signs along the way, will take you through a historic snow shed and the Disaster Site viewpoint. Another 2.4 miles will take you to the Windy Point overlook for a view of the new Cascade Tunnel's western portal.
