Cedar Creek Lower Trailhead
Start here for a three mile uphill hike to the upper trailhead. The total elevation gain is 790 feet. Much of the lower trail follows the old highway through the juniper forest zone. Although juniper dominates the dry, south-facing slopes, you will enjoy willows, aspen and ponderosa pine too. Be sure to pick up a free brochure for the interpretive sites at the lower trailhead and at the upper trailhead. The upper trailhead is located at the Cedar Pass Ski Park.

General Information
Directions:
From Alturas go north 5 miles on US Hwy 395 to Hwy 299. Turn east on Hwy 299 toward Cedarville and go approximately 16 miles to the sign for the trailhead. The parking area is on the highway 3 miles east of the ski hill.

Mountain Biking
This is one of several trails shared by hikers, equestrian units and mountain bikers.
Day Hiking
For a more challenging and strenuous day hike, start at the lower trailhead and hike the 3 miles uphill to the ski area. For a more leisurely walk, start at the upper trailhead and end at the lower. There are many nice spots for lunch along the way. A free brochure describes the numbered stops.

Horse Riding
Horses share this trail with mountain bikes and hikers. Bicyclists and hikers should yield to horses. Step 8 feet off the trail on the downhill side and speak quietly as the horses pass.
