Capacity for 15 vehicles. Restroom facilities are available as well as horse corrals. Provides access to: Knebal Springs Trail #474 which intersects Bottle Prairie Trail #455 to provide a 9 mile loop option.

The trailhead is located within Knebal Springs Campground on Forest Road #44.  Be aware of mountain bikers and horse groups as these are the most frequent users of this trail. The trail leaves the campground from the eastside of the campground. There is spring-fed water in the campground for horse use only..

General Information


From Portland, OR drive Hwy. 26 east to Jct. Hwy. 35. Take Hwy. 35 approx. 10 miles to Forest Service Rd. 44. Turn right onto Rd. 44. then left on Rd. 17, then onto Rd. 1720 to Knebal Springs Campground. The Knebal Springs Trail begins in the campground.

Mountain Biking

Beware of hikers and horse back riders. A popular mountain biking trail.

Day Hiking

Be aware of mountain bikers and horse groups as these are the most frequent users of this trail.The trail leaves the campground near the NW end and heads out to Rd. 1720 for a 1 1/4 mile jaunt on the road to pick up the trail into the forest once more.

A foot/horse trail leads south through the forest, and connects to a larger network.
