Area Status: Temporarily Closed
This trail is in Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness. This is an out of the way trail to a small lake that sees little use. This is a great backpacking destination. It begins at Tanner Butte Trail #401 (3,760’) and ends at Dublin Lake (3,520’). There are three despersed campsites at the lake.
To reach this trail from the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail trailhead, hike Forest Road 8400-777 approximately 1.2 miles to the old Tanner Butte Trail Trailhead. Be sure to stay on the main road as there are several spur trails and roads. Turn left onto Tanner Butte Trail #401. After 4 miles the trail reaches the junction with Tanner Cutoff Trail #448. The Tanner Cutoff Trail is no longer maintained and is very difficult to find fromn this trail. Continue straight on #401 0.1 mile to the beginning of this trail. From Tanner Butte Trail #401, the trail heads down the steep east side of the ridge to Dublin Lake. There are three despersed campsites at the lake.
