Sahalie Falls Trail #667 C

This trail is on the southeast side of Mount Hood and passes Sahalie Falls. The trail wanders through meadows, open woods and fir and hemlock forests.

The trail starts at its west junction with Umbrella Falls Trail #667, heads southeast to Sahalie Falls on the East Fork Hood River, then turns northeast and ends at its west junction with Umbrella Falls Trail #667.  Access this trail from Mount Hood Meadows Road (5,200’) on the east side of the road, approximately 0.25 mile south of the Mount Hood Meadows Lodge parking area.  Follow the trail north 0.25 mile to Umbrella Falls (5,250’).  Continue past the falls 0.25 mile to the first junction with Sahalie Falls Trail #667C (5,200’).  Turn right (southeast) on Sahalie Falls Trail #667C.  The trail crosses Meadows Creek, over wooden bridges, three different times in the first mile.  After the third crossing, continue southeast along the canyon rim down to the viewpoint for Sahalie Falls (4,650’).    Be careful around the falls – the area is very exposed at times.  From Sahalie Falls, continue downhill east- northeast to Forest Road 3545.  Continue 0.1 across Forest Road 3545 and Meadows Creek to another trailhead for this trail (4,460’).  The trail climbs slightly 0.4 mile to its east junction with Umbrella Falls Trail #667 and the end of the trail.  Hikers can return on this trail or take Umbrella Falls Trail #667 1.9 miles back to the Umbrella Falls Trail #667 trailhead at Mount Hood Meadows Road.
