Tanner Creek Trail #431
This is a lightly used trail in a remote part of the Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness that connects several other more substantive trails.
This trail begins at the end of Tanner Creek Road (closed Forest Road 8400-777) (1,200’) and ends at Moffett Creek Trail #430 (1,320’). From Tanner Creek Road, this trail enters the Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness and heads south through the Tanner Creek valley. After 0.1 mile the trail reaches the Tanner Cutoff Trail #448 (#448 takes you east to Tanner Butte Trail #401). The trail continues straight (south) for 0.4 mile and crosses several small streams before reaching the end of the trail at Moffett Creek Trail #430.

Directions:From Portland, OR - Travel east on US Hwy 84 to Exit #40, signed for Bonneville Dam. Follow signs to the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail (0.5 mile). Park in the large parking lot (day passes required and overnight parking is permitted, but no camping). Follow Tanner Creek Road (closed Forest Road 8400-777) 4.5 miles to Tanner Creek Trail #431.
From the Dalles, OR - Travel west on US Hwy 84 to Exit #40. Follow signs to the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail (0.5 mile). Park in the large parking lot (day passes required and overnight parking is permitted, but no camping). Follow Tanner Creek Road (closed Forest Road 8400-777) 4.5 miles to Tanner Creek Trail #431.
