West Zigzag Trail #789
This trail accesses the southwest corner of the Mount Hood Wilderness. This trail provides a short access to the ridge of Zigzag Mountain.
From the parking lot at the end of Zigzag Mountain Road (Forest Road 2627) the trail climbs steeply for the first ½ mile. From the switchbacks the grade becomes easier until the junction with Zigzag Mountain Trail #775. For an 8.4 mile clockwise loop, at the north end of this trail, go right (east) on Zigzag Mountain Trail #775 for 3.5 miles to its junction with Devil’s Tie Trail #767. Go right (south) on Devil’s Tie Trail #767 for 0.3 mile to its junction with Burnt Lake Trail #772. Go right (southwest) on Burnt Lake Trail #772 for 2.4 miles to return to the trailhead.

Directions:From Portland, OR - follow US Hwy 26 20.2 miles east of Sandy and turn left (north), approximately 250 feet before milepost 46, at Zigzag Mountain Road (Forest Road 2627) . Follow this road for 4.3 miles to its end (the road eventually becomes Forest Road 2627-207). The trail begins 100 yards before the end of the road on the left (west) side of the road..
