Tilly Jane Trail #600A


The Trail climbs through remnants of a 2008 forest fire within Mount Hood Wilderness on the northeast side of the mountain. This is a popular ski trail.

This trail begins at Cloud Cap Saddle Campground and ends at Timberline Trail #600. From the Cloud Cap Saddle Campground trailhead (5,870’), the trail heads gently downhill (southeast) and after 0.4 mile the trail reaches a short spur trail leading to Tilly Jane Campground. Stay right on #600A and travel 0.1 mile to Tilly Jane Creek.  Cross the creek and go another 0.1 mile to a second spur trail leading to Tilly Jane Campground (5,740’).  Turn right (south) to stay on #600A and climb 0.2 mile to the Mount Hood Wilderness boundary.  After entering the Mount Hood Wilderness, the trail continues to climb a further 0.8 mile to the trail’s end at Timberline Trail #600A (6,650’).  To visit the Tilly Jane Shelter, continue climbing up Timberline Trail #600 0.1 mile.  Visitors can return on the same trail or follow Timberline Trail #600 north from the Cooper Spur Shelter.

General Information

Directions:

From Hood River, OR - travel approximately 13.1 miles south on Oregon Hwy 35 and turn right (east) onto Cooper Spur Road, approximately 0.3 miles south of milepost 74.  Follow Cooper Spur Road 2.4 miles to Cloud Cap Road (Forest Road 3512) and turn left (southeast).  Follow Cloud Cap Road (Forest Road 3512) approximately 9.8 miles to the trailhead near the Snowshoe Cabin at the Cloud Cap Inn.  Timberline Trail #600 heads south from the same trailhead.  

Visitors can also access this trail from Tilly Jane Campground.

Alert: Forest Road 3512 is narrow and winding and may require a high-clearance or 4 Wheel Drive vehicle.
