Area Status: Not Cleared

Section of: Timberline National Historic Trail

This section is about 11.3 miles long and follows along the north side of the mountain. It crosses numerous streams including Lad, Coe and Eliot. The snow on the north side of the mountain usually melts at later times than the more exposed southern side of the mountain. Along this section there are numerous places to camp in already established campsites like Mcneil Point, Carin basin (stone shelter), and Elk Cove.

Eliot Crossing is now OPEN. The trail reroute was completed on 9/14/2016. This section of trail was closed due to an extreme washout on the trail that occurred in 2006. A 1.4 mile reroute has been constructed downstream of the previous crossing.

At a Glance
