Knebal Springs Trail #474
This popular mountain bike trail offers views of Mount Hood. Combine this trail with Bottle Prairie Trail #455 for an excellent 9 mile loop. There are numerous opprtunities to add additional mountain bikes miles.
From Knebal Springs Campground (3,850’), head uphill (southwest) on this trail. Travel 1.6 miles from the campground to the junction with Forest Road 1720-121. Cross the road and continue uphill 0.5 mile to the junction with Forest Road 1720-123. Cross the road and continue uphill 0.5 mile to the junction with Forest Road 1720-125. Cross the road and continue 0.3 mile to the junction with Forest Road 1720-124. Cross the road and continue slightly downhill 1 mile to the junction with an abandoned road. Continue (southeast) 0.2 mile to the junction with Eightmile Loop Trail #496 and Bottle Prairie Trail #455. Visitors can head south 0.1 mile on this trail to the trailhead (4,450’) at Forest Road 44 (for a one way, shuttle route). To make a 9 mile loop, head left (northeast) on Eightmile Loop Trail #496/Bottle Prairie Trail #455 and travel 0.4 mile where the trails split. Stay left on Bottle Prairie Trail #455 and travel 4.3 miles to return to Knebal Springs Campground.

General Information
Directions:From Hood River, OR take Oregon Hwy 35 south 26 miles, approximately 0.15 mile past milepost 71, to Dufur Mill Road (Forest Road 44). Turn left (east) on Forest Road 44 and travel 5.3 miles to Forest Road 17 (signed for Knebal Springs Campground). Continue straight on Forest Road 17 (Forest Road 44 curves right). After 0.5 mile, take the right fork onto FS 1720, (signed for Knebal Springs) (Forest Road 17 goes left). Stay on Forest Road 1720 for 2.7 miles to Forest Road 1720-150. Turn right onto Forest Road 1720-150 and drive 0.2 mile to enter Knebal Springs Campground. Bear left through the campground to park on the left in an open grassy area at Knebal Springs Trailhead.
From Dufur, to the east end of the trail, go west on Dufur Mill Road (Forest Road 44) for 16.7 miles to Forest Road 1720. Turn right (north) on Forest Road 4430 and travel 4.5 miles to Forest Road 1720. Turn left (southwest) and travel 0.9 mile to Forest Road 1720-150. Turn right onto Forest Road 1720-150 and drive 0.2 mile to enter Knebal Springs Campground. Bear left through the campground to park on the left at Knebal Springs Trailhead.
