Horseshoe Saddle Trail #712

  

This trail is in the Ollalie Lake Scenic Area and provides easy access to the Pacific Crest Trail #2000. The trail begins at Horseshoe Lake Campground (Forest Road 4220) (5,350’) and ends at Pacific Crest Trail #2000 (5,520’). The trail leaves from camp site #5 at Horseshoe Lake Campground. The trail heads west along the north shore of Horseshoe Lake for 0.1 mile. The trail stays level and passes several small ponds in the next 0.25 mile. The trail starts to head southwest towards the saddle for 0.25 miles to the beginning of a small climb (5,360’). The trail climbs 0.2 mile to the junction with Pacific Crest Trail #2000 (5,520’).

Directions:

From Portland, OR - travel east on US Hwy 26 to Sandy. Turn right (southwest) on OR Highway 211 and travel 6.1 miles to OR Hwy 224. Turn left (southeast) on OR Hwy 224 and travel 30.6 miles to Forest Road 46. Turn right on Forest Road 46 and travel 14.8 miles to Forest Road 42. Turn left onto Forest Road 42 and travel 4.3 miles to Forest Road 4220 (Skyline Rd.). Turn right onto Forest Road 4220 and travel 15 miles to Horseshoe Lake Campground. The trail leaves from camp site #5.
