Memaloose Lake Trail #515

This trail enters the Clackamas Wilderness.  This popular hike goes through old growth forest on the way to Memaloose Lake.

This trail begins at Forest Road 45 (3,440’) and ends at Memaloose Lake (4,080’).  The trail climbs gradually for 0.8 mile to a series of switchbacks.  Continue uphill another 0.4 mile to Memaloose Lake.  Head left, cross the outlet, and you’ll find several campsites.  If you wish to climb South Fork Mountain, continue straight on this unmarked, unmaintained trail 1 mile to the summit.

General Information


From Estacada OR -  Detour route:  From Estacada Bridge (Junction of Hwy 211 and Hwy 224) to Molalla go 4.7 mile to Hillockburn Road. Turn left on to Hillockburn Road. From this junction it is 23 miles to the Memloose Lake trailhead. (Hillockburn road turns into FS RD 45 at the forest boundry).

Currently closed - From the Estacada Ranger Station take OR Hwy 224 (southwest) for 14.7 miles to (Memaloose) Forest Road 45.  Take the right onto (Memloose) Forest Road 45 and travel 12.1 miles to the parking area for the trailhead on the south side of the road.
