Less than a mile from the quiet town of Elk River in the mountains of north central Idaho, the Elk Creek Campground is found in a picturesque setting of mature pine forests and next to the tinkling waters of Elk Creek.  Only minutes from the largest waterfall in Idaho and the largest and oldest cedar tree east of the cascade range, and a favorite for berry pickers everywhere, this 24 site campground with host and a group shelter is an ideal place for your next family get-a-way.

Current Conditions: Open seasonally. Water shut off Sept. 28, 2020. Some sites are reservable; reservations are accepted on www.Recreation.gov.
Reservations: The campsites are available on a first-come first-serve basis, except for 6 reservable sites. Visit Elk Creek on Recreation.gov or call 877-444-6777 to reserve.
Fees Electrical hookup sites are $20.00/night
Open Season: June - October 26, 2020
  • Camper length maximum is 30-40 feet in the campground.
  • Garbage services not available. Pack It In, Pack It Out.

General Information


From Moscow, Idaho, travel northeast on State Road 8 to Elk River. Turn north onto Forest Road 382 and then east onto Forest Road 1705. The campground is about 45 minutes from Moscow.
