Powell Campground

Adjacent to the Wild and Scenic Lochsa River, 60 miles southwest of Missoula, MT and 88 miles northeast of Kooskia, ID, the Powell Campground has 3 paved loops and sits in a mature stand of mixed-conifers and shrubs, providing nice shade for all of the campsites. A popular destination for visitors from Montana, as well as travelers along Highway 12, it is often used for family reunions, weddings and large group gatherings, and is the only campground in this prospectus to offer electrical hook-ups. The campground is walking distance to the historic Powell Ranger Station and Lochsa Lodge, which has a restaurant, rental cabins, convenience store and fuel. Visitors to Powell Campground often enjoy relaxing by the river, fishing, rafting and swimming as well as hiking and backpacking on some of the nearby trails. A campground host is usually on duty during open season.
The Campground will accomodate 40-ft. RV's.

General Information
Directions:Powell Campground is located on Rd. # 102, one half mile off of US Highway 12, near milepost 162. This road is paved and is the access to Powell Ranger Station and Lochsa Lodge. This junction is 60 miles southwest of Missoula and 88 miles northeast of Kooskia.
Activities
Campground Camping
The campground consists of three paved loops with one of the loops being designed for day-use only.
- Loop A- 23 camp sites (see RV Camping above for details).
- Loop B- 10 campsites and no electrical hook-ups. One of the campsites has a 200 foot pull-through drive. Two sites have pull-alongside parking and the remaining seven sites are back-in spurs, averaging 40 feet in length. Host site, a flush toilet and amphitheater are in this loop. Two vault toilets at the far end of loop and two water hydrants on each end. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. The host site has water, sewer and electric hook ups a picnic table and fire ring.
- Loop C- day-use picnic area located within Loop B. Open field with very little shade with two individual picnic sites and one large group site. Each site has picnic table and barbeque grill. One water hydrant near group site.
RV Camping
Loop A has 23 camp sites with electrical hook ups. Half of the campsites in this loop are next to the river. Each campsite has an electrical hookup, picnic table and fire ring. Two of the 23 sites are 200 foot pull-through drives. The rest are back-in spurs, averaging 40 feet in length. There are two concrete vault toilets and two water hydrants in this loop. One flush toilet is located between Loop A and the Host site.
