Elk Summit Lookout

  

The Elk Summit lookout tower remains intact although not currently used by the Forest Service. It is not accessible by the public. The log cabin at the base of the lookout may be added to the Forest Service cabin rental program in the future. The site is often used by snowmobilers as a rest point.

General Information

Directions: From State Highway 14, turn north at the convenience store/Laundromat at the signed marked "Sweeney Hill." This road becomes Forest Road #1199. Follow Road #1199 approximately 9 miles to its junction with Road #417. Turn south (left) on Road #417 and proceed approximately 1 - 3/4 miles to the lookout.
