Reeds Bar Trail #412

From its upper terminus on the Santiam-Sourdough Road #492, the trail route proceeds directly to Twentymile Creek on about a 20% grade. At about 2.1 miles near Twentymile Creek the trail crosses a small creek and at about 2.2 miles starts to follow the main creek. For the next mile, the route lies on an easy grade of less than 10% as it continues through Twentymile Meadows to about 2.8 miles from the trailhead on Santiam-Sourdough Road. Water is readily available along this one-mile section, but must be treated before drinking. Travelers should keep to the west side of Twentymile Meadows to avoid losing the trial route. Much of the trail tread is wet and muddy along this section. The trail intersects with Sourdough-Wing Creek Trail #411 at 2.8 miles. At about 2.9 miles the trail leaves Twentymile Meadows on a moderate uphill grade through timber and crosses a small stream at 3.1 miles. After crossing another small stream at 3.9 miles and continuing on an uphill grade, the trail crosses a ridge and descends to its lower terminus on Blue Ridge Road #1875. The upper 2.2 miles and the lower section of trail below the Meadows pass through a variety of timer including lodgepole pine, alpine fir, grand fir, Douglas fir, western larch and Engelmann spruce. Forest regulations prohibit the use of motorized vehicles (except over-snow vehicles operating on snow) in order to maintain a safer, more desirable foot trail for hikers and horseback riders.
