Six campsites on Wildhorse Lake, in a lovely riparian meadow. A trail from the campground leads into the Wilderness, into Tenmile Meadows. Another trailhead is south of the campground and leads deep into the Wilderness, all the way to Sugarloaf Butte.

General Information

Directions: From State Highway 14 turn south on Crooked River Road #233. Proceed through old Orogrande town site, past the junction with Big Creek Meadows Road #311 to Orogrande Summit and the junction with Road #233I. Turn right on Road #233I and continue 2.5 miles to campground (near the Gospel Hump Wilderness). Approximately 25 miles SW of Elk City, Idaho.

Campground Camping

A beautiful if not remote location; Wildhorse Campground takes some effort to get to. Located near Wildhorse Lake at one of the principal accesses to the Gospel Hump Wilderness, the campground has campsites with tables and fire grates. Access to the site is by primitive mountain road, with no trailers recommended.
Bring your camera to capture the beauty of this place. Plan on fishing, hiking, swimming and in the winter you can ski.
