Rabbit Point Trail #217

Rabbit Point Trail #217 begins at a junction with Rhett Creek Trail #231, one mile southwest of Rabbit Point. From the trailhead, Rabbit Point Trail climbs northeast to an old lookout site on Rabbit Point. An occasional glimpse of the Salmon River, 3000 feet below, is possible as you pass Rabbit Point. After this first mile, the scenic vistas are replaced by thick timber while the trail follows a ridge top above Rabbit Creek. The climb through the lodgepole is finally broken as the trail tops out near Churchill Mountain and ends at the junction with Churchill Trail #210. Rabbit Point Trail #217 is a connecting trail between Churchill Trail #210 and Rhett Creek Trail #231. Hiked or ridden together, the three trails make a very good loop trip. The trail does not cross any live water sources, so take along a topographic map to find the springs which do exist off the trail.
