Wilson Creek Wild and Scenic River Area

Area Status: Temporarily Closed

With fantastic vistas, ridges more than 4000 feet high, whitewater rapids and trails that travel to spectacular waterfalls, Wilson Creek offers great adventures for hiking, scenic viewing, mountain biking, fishing, camping, horseback riding and backpacking.

At a Glance

Current Conditions: In response to the widespread damage caused by Hurricane Helene, all recreation sites on the Pisgah and Nantahala remain closed until hazardous conditions improve and assessments can be completed.
Rentals & Guides: Several outfitter guides have permits for the area for rock climbing and other activities. Contact the District Office for more information.
Open Season: Open all year. Restroom is closed in the winter.
