Sliding Rock Recreation Area


Sliding Rock is a 60 foot natural water slide that ends in a 8 foot deep pool of water. There are 2 observation platforms, and is staffed during the season. This is a heavily used recreation area, come early. Sliding Rock opens on Memorial Day weekend and is open 7 days a week through Labor Day weekend.  After Labor Day weekend, it is staffed intermittently (depending on weather and rain) on weekdays and is staffed weekends thru mid-October. The recreation area may close due to heavy rainfall and increased water levels. Visitors can call the Ranger Station for any weather closure updates at (828) 877-3265

Reservations: No reservations taken
Fees A daily fee $2 per person. Annual passes remain at $25. Additional revenue is required to operate this extremely popular site, which often receives 1,000 or more people a day. Fee revenue will provide expanded hours for lifeguards and help pay for the maintenance at this highly used site. The last fee increase at this site was in 2014.

Restrictions: No Alcohol or Picnicking Permitted. This area is staffed during season. Open for viewing year-round.

From Brevard, take US 64 E to US 276. Turn left and follow US 276N for 8 miles. Located on left.
