Sliding Rock is a 60 foot natural water slide that ends in a 8 foot deep pool of water. There are 2 observation platforms, and is staffed during the season. This is a heavily used recreation area, come early. Sliding Rock opens on Memorial Day weekend and is open 7 days a week through Labor Day weekend. After Labor Day weekend, it is staffed intermittently (depending on weather and rain) on weekdays and is staffed weekends thru mid-October. The recreation area may close due to heavy rainfall and increased water levels. Visitors can call the Ranger Station for any weather closure updates at (828) 877-3265.
A daily fee $2 per person. Annual passes remain at $25. Additional revenue is required to operate this extremely popular site, which often receives 1,000 or more people a day.
