This 42-space campground provides breezy lakefront sites along Florida Trail (area is unavailable), or just drift across the water in a kayak, trailing a line and waiting for a nibble.

Operational Hours: Open for day use 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily; may close earlier seasonally. Campers have 24 hour access to the gates with an access code.

Restrictions:
  • All Ocala National Forest campgrounds allow pets, but they must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet and are not permitted in designated swimming and picnic areas.
  • There is a maximum stay limit of 14 consecutive days in a 30-day period.
Closest Towns: Paisley is along SR 42 just a mile to the east and has two small stores for camp supplies, plus a post office and library for Internet access.

Passes: Ocala National Forest Springs Hopper Pass: This day-use pass is $70 + tax per person and is good for 12 months from the date of purchase. It provides entrance to recreation areas managed by Adventure Ocala, which includes: Juniper Springs, Alexander Springs, Silver Glen Springs, Clearwater Lake and Wildcat Lake. This pass is available for purchase from Adventure Ocala at Alexander Springs, Juniper Springs and Silver Glen Springs. The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Annual Senior Pass, Lifetime Senior Pass and Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount on the fee for a single campsite occupied by the passholder at the following campgrounds managed by Adventure Ocala: Passholders do not receive a discount on the fee for multi-family sites, cabins or group-use areas or any other campsites occuped by those accompanying the passholder. The 50% discount does not include utility, water or hookup fees. Discounts on camping are not available to America the Beautiful or Volunteer Pass holders.

General Information

Directions:

From the junction of SR 42 and SR 19 in Altoona, north of Mount Dora, drive east on SR 42 towards Paisley. After 6.4 miles, you’ll see the entrance to the Clearwater Lake Recreation Area on your left. Turn left and drive up the park entrance road, passing the trailhead for the Florida Trail and Paisley Woods Bicycle Trail on your right, to reach the entrance station for this recreation area.


Parking:

Day use parking is immediately down to the left after you pass through the entrance station. Some of the campsites are set off the day use area, but you should proceed to your assigned site to park.
