Camping at Alexander Springs

At Alexander Springs Recreation Area, enjoy our shaded campground within an easy walk of the springs swimming and picnicking area. This 67-unit campground can accomodate tents and recreation vehicles up to 35 feet. Some campsites are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Others are available by reservation by calling 1-877-444-6777 or at Recreation.gov.

General Information

Directions:

Alexander Springs Recreation Area is located along CR 445 in the northeast corner of Lake County between Astor and Altoona.  From SR 40 at Astor, take Butler Street to CR 445A, and turn left on CR 445. The recreation area is 5.8 miles south on the right.  From Altoona, drive north 5.2 miles on SR 19, and turn right on CR 445. Continue another 5.1 miles to the entrance on the left.


Accessibility:

Sidewalks and boardwalks are fully accessible. Our bathhouse and restrooms are ADA-compliant.

Campground Camping

The 67-unit campground can accomodate tents and recreation vehicles up to 35 feet. Some campsites are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Others are available by reservation by calling 1-877-444-6777 or at www.recreation.gov.

The maximum stay is 14 consecutive days in a 30 day period.

Detailed camping regulations are posted and available at the entrance gate house.

There are no electrical, water or sewer hookups, but hot showers and a dump station are provided.

A concessionaire sells snacks, groceries, ice, charcoal, firewood, beach items and personal items.

Hours of Operation: 8 AM to 8 PM. Late arrivals, please call ahead for a gate code.
Rental info: Rental canoes are available from the concessionaire daily, as well as shuttle service.
