Big Scrub Campground

Perennially popular with OHV enthusiasts, the Big Scrub Campground is in the heart of the Big Scrub in the south central portion of the Ocala National Forest. It has 47 sites.  A trailhead provides riders campsite-to-trail access for the Ocala Centennial Trail.

Fees $20 per night camping. Operator pass needed to ride the Cenntennial Trail. If parked in the campground for trail use, campground fee applies.

  • All Ocala National Forest campgrounds allow pets, but they must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet and are not permitted in designated swimming and picnicking areas.
  • There is a maximum stay limit of 14 consecutive days in a 30 day period.

General Information


From Weirsdale, drive east on SR 42 for 7.4 miles. At a blinking light, turn left onto SE 182nd Avenue Rd. Drive 4.1 miles to Forest Road (FR) 14, on the right. FR 14 is an unimproved road, sometimes deep in soft sand in spots. After approx. 5 miles, the campground is on the left at the crossroad of FR 14 and FR 13. It can also be accessed from SR 40 by driving south on FR 13 for approx. 12 miles.


Limited to those camping in the campground. There is a small unloading/loading parking area just outside the campground gate for OHV users.

Campers with ATVs are welcome at Big Scrub Campground, where there is direct access from the campground to the 47-mile Ocala Centennial Trail. 47 sites, no hookup or dump station.

OHV Trail Riding

Big Scrub Campground provides direct access to the Ocala Centennial Trail for ATV riders, and to the Tread Lightly Four Wheel Drive Way for OHV use.

Parking is only available for registered campers.
