Providing a getaway to the heart of the Ocala National Forest since the 1930s, the Juniper Springs Campground within Juniper Springs Recreation Area offers 79 deeply shaded spaces within walking distance of some of Florida's most beautiful springs.

This campground was named one of ReserveAmerica's Top 100 Family Campgrounds in the United States.

At a Glance

Operational Hours: The recreation area entrance is typically open from 8 AM to 8 PM daily. Hours vary by season.

Within the campground, quiet time is 10 PM to 6 AM. Please respect your fellow campers by not making any unusually loud noises.

Rentals & Guides: The concessionaire sells snacks, groceries, charcoal, firewood, ice and novelties, as well as renting canoes and providing livery service.  Call 352-625-2808 for information.

Restrictions: There are no electrical, water or sewer hookups. Hot showers are available. Campsites can accomodate up to five people and cannot be left unattended for more than 24 hours. Deposit your trash in receptacles placed throughout the camping area. Garbage and exposed food attract unwanted scavengers. A dumping station is provided for vehicle holding tanks.

Pets are prohibited in the picnic and swimming areas, but are allowed at the campsites and on roads. They must be controlled by a leash no longer than six feet. Detailed camping regulations are posted and available at the entrance gate house.
Closest Towns: Forest Corners is about 10 miles west of Juniper Springs and has a grocery store, hardware store, produce stand, and banks with ATMs. Astor is 9 miles east with a grocery store, hardware, restaurants, and gas stations. Both are along SR 40.

Information Center: Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers, and motor homes up to 35 feet. The maximum stay is 14 consecutive days within a 30 day period.

Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, grill and lantern post. Campsites can accommodate motor homes, trailers, and tents. Restrooms with hot showers are available.

General Information


Juniper Springs Campground is located inside the Juniper Springs Recreation Area. It is along SR 40 between Mill Dam and SR 19, just 9 miles west of Astor and the St. Johns River.
