This trailhead is hard to locate and lacks adequate signage, so to find it you will need a keen eye and a strong sense of adventure.  

If you do find the trailhead you may have a feeling of satisfaction in knowing that you have found the access point to Hammer Creek Trail (#840), which is the ONLY official trail located in the Maury Mountains.

General Information


From Prineville, Oregon:

Travel southeast on Highway 380 for approximately 26 miles.

Turn south on Forest Service Road 16.

Continue for 7 miles.

The turnout will be on your left about 2 miles past the junction with Forest Service Road 1620.

There is currently no trailhead sign at the site, so you will have to look hard to determine where the trail begins. We are working to correct this.
