Potlid TH North

This developed site is located in the northwest corner of the Ochoco National Forest and is the northern access point for Potlid Trail (#836), which wraps around the western side of Bull Mountain.  The trailhead is located along Trout Creek and just off of Forest Service Road 2725.

Current Conditions: Open year-round. This is not a gated facility. Access is subject to favorable weather conditions.
Reservations: This is a First Come, First Served facility.

Fees This is a free facility.
Restrictions: This is a Day-Use only facility.  No overnight camping is permitted at trailheads or Sno-Parks on the Ochoco National Forest or Crooked River National Grassland.

General Information


From Prineville, Oregon:

Travel north on Main Street for approximately 11 miles to the Ochoco National Forest boundary.  

Main Street turns into Forest Service Road 27 at the forest boundary.

Continue on Forest Service Road 27 for another 7 miles until you reach McKay Saddle and the junction of Forest Service Roads 27 and 2725.  

Stay straight to merge onto Forest Service Road 2725 (a windy and underdeveloped road).  

Proceed for approximately 6 miles and Potlid North Trailhead will be on your left.
