Hammer Creek Trail (#840)

While hiking this trail, you will be treated to serene views of the Maury Mountains

This trail starts from Hammer Creek Trailhead  and is not well maintained so it can be hard to follow.

Good outdoor skills may be required to navigate the trail and find your way.

The national forest has a few range permit holders that operate on grazing allotments, through which this trail meanders, so cattle may be encountered in this area.

Currently someone has built a fence across the trail within the first few hundred feet, but public access should be maintained so we are working to correct this situation.

Day Hiking

Day hiking is probably the best use of this trail and best suited for those who are up for a longer hike.  You will have to cross a fence within the first few hundred feet, and then after that your most significant challenge will likely be staying on route.  If you are seeking an adventure on the "road-less-traveled" this may be the hike for you!

Backpacking is an option for this trail due to its length.  You may select your own dispersed campsite, but if you do please be mindful of other visitors and practice Leave-No-Trace principles.
