It goes around Hart Lake (4 miles) and switchbacks up to Crown Point Falls, Lyman Lake (8 miles), and on to Cloudy Pass. It ties into the Pacific Crest Trail on the Agnes Creek side of Cloudy Pass.

Camping opportunities are available at the beginning of the trail (Holden Campground), Hart Lake, Rebel Camp (1 mile past Hart Lake), Lyman Lake, and Cloudy Pass. Lyman Lake is closed to camping and fires within 200 feet of the lakeshore.
