Monkey Bear Falls Trail #1273

This trail winds through forest of douglas fir, western white pine, and noble fir. The trail crosses 10 Mile Creek on a large foot log with band rails on both sides. As you near the falls, the trail leaves the forest and switchbacks up a rocky ridge to a view point of Monkey Bear Falls. Rock steps and viewing platforms are being constructed. Construction should be done by 4th of July weekend. From May to July 1st the switchbacks and view point will be closed at times during this construction. There also is a great view of the mountains of Railroad Creek Valley. This is an excellent day hike from Holden Village. Although there is water at 10 mile Creek and 9-mile Creek, we recommend you bring your own drinking water, so you need not worry about water treatment. This trail is maintained annually.
