Pacific Crest Trail- Lake Chelan S to Suiattle

Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail from within Lake Chelan National Recreation Area from High Bridge Campground area and heading south within Glacier Peak Wilderness to Suiattle Pass is about 20 miles.

The first two miles are located in the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area while the remaining 18 miles are  in Glacier Peak Wilderness. The trail stays in the Agnes Creek Valley for 12 miles. Camps (no facilities) are located at 3 mile, 5 mile, 8 mile, 9 ½ mile, and 12 mile (Hemlock Camp). From Hemlock at Glacier Creek the trail begins an upward climb to Basin One and Two (named during the survey). Seven camps are signed along this route (from Hemlock) to its junction with Suiattle Pass. Once on the Hemlock to its junction with Suiattle Pass segment, the views are outstanding.

Trees killed by insects are falling into Hemlock Camp and it is not safe to camp there. Use Cedar Camp, Sitting Bull Basin Camp, or a camp up on the South Fork Agnes trail instead.

Leave no Trace: Please use existing camps and fire rings be used. No grazing is available along this route. Alert! Snow hangs in the Basin late, and an ice axe is recommended for early season hikers.

Visit the US Forest Service Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail website for more information and maps.
