October 21, 2016: Forest Road 9737 North Fork Teanaway was damaged by flood waters between the Iron Peak Trailhead and the Esmeralda / Ingalls Way Trailhead on Thursday October 20. Vehicle access to DeRoux Trailhead, Iron Peak Trailhead, and Esmeralda / Ingalls Way Trailhead and trails is not possible. Repairs this fall are not likely. For additional information please contact the Cle Elum Ranger Station.

From the road, the trail immediately heads up the steep, sparsely forested mountainside in a series of switchbacks. After about 1.5 miles, the grade moderates for 0.5 mile as the trail enters a basin. Then it steepens again and continues switchbacking up through groups of trees and open rocky meadows to the bare ridgetop at approximately the 3-mile point. From this scenic spot, the trail heads downhill into upper Beverly Creek basin, passing through meadows, groups of trees, and bare rocky areas. After 0.5 mile, it ends at the junction with Beverly Turnpike Trail 1391. There is little or no water along this trail aside from Iron Creek at trail’s start and some springs near the end of the trail.
