Easy Pass Trail #741

Area Status: Not Cleared

The trail drops about 50 feet elevation to a foot log crossing of Granite Creek then winds upward. This route was called "Easy" Pass because it was the only place possible to put a trail across rugged, ragged ridges.) The trail passes through heavy timber, meadows, avalanche chutes with good views. This trail offers magnificent mountain views, and spectacular  fall colors when the larches turn gold and the huckleberry bushes turn red. Once you cross over the pass you are in the North Cascades National Park and a backcountry is required for camping on the park. A backcountry permit can be obtained at the National Park Service office in Marblemount or week-days at Methow Valley Ranger District office in Winthrop.
